Airgun Pest control permissions wanted Hastings/Rye Area

Recommended Posts

So Winchelsea and Pett level area? You will have your work cut out! Most of the areas around there are shot by Knobby (local sheep farmer) or our famous friend GD. For some reason the farmers are happy with them, even though they havent seen them for years (litterally!). ( A couple of farmers i spoke to said GD hadnt been round in at least 2 years!)

I think the farmers are more concerned about the celebrity they have shooting their ground, rather than the amount of vermin controlled.

Have you been to the outdoor air rifle range in Rye? I haven't but its supposed to be really good.

I haven't had a chance to get to the outdoor range yet, Iden ferns right? the website went down last week which puzzled me, I've been seeing over a dozen rabbits in one area continually, and i know theres a few places between rye and camber where the field is more rabbit than grass, pretty sure i bumped into knobby last lambing season, also sure hes they guy who owns the fields literally behind my garden too

cheers for the reply sorry i took so long to get back to you

Yes, the Iden ferns one. Like i said i haven't been but heard very good things about them. If you need a good specialist air rifle shop take a look at AC guns in Hastings, they also sell FAC, SG stuff but mainly air rifle. I would try more towards Camber, a lot of the ground around Rye is farmed by Knobby who shoots so you won't get in there. You could try the fields on the right as you come out of Rye towards Hastings, about half way to the shed sales place? They were sold a year or so ago, the previous owner wasn't interested but the new owners might be?? Although, if i remember right, it was an organic farm and no lead pellets/shot allowed. I would also try the long road to the harbour, the fields on the right, but you will have to do some digging to find out who owns them. When i get a bit more time, i'll be out door knocking again! There were a couple who thought about it before saying no, who may be more willing now, especially if their "regular" shooter has not been since my last call. Good luck!

Cheers for the info really appreciate it, I might know a few people who could get me the harbour road names and maybe even an introduction, I just picked up a few of the gamo PBA and alloy pellet test pack wary of the accuracy before i've even fired any, I've heard good things about AC and my rifle probably needs some new grease, might pop in after work on friday and have a chat with them see what they quote me, still abit unsure of how to approach the land owners round here and the guy who does pheasant shoots is never around to chat so i might just stick an ad on the notice board and knock on a few doors any tips?

I am probably the wrong person to give you tips on door knocking as I haven’t been very successful!! Lol. But if you do a search on here there are a few posts on gaining permissions that are worth reading. The only tip I can give you is put the time and miles in!  The more you try the more chance you’ll have. Don’t go dressed in camo, be polite even with the not so polite farmers you will meet!! Try and get some beating somewhere, that’s a good way to get in with farmers and farm workers.

I think door knocking requires alittle more experience than I have, I'll search up these posts and I know maybe one guy who raises the phesants for shoots so might be able to get some beating or help them out there

cheers for the advice

I door knocked for eight years to earn living!

I never had any business before I set off in the morning.

To say it was hard work would be a massive understatement ...but I did make a living.

I found for every 7.75 doors I knocked i got business I sold car etching and did it on the spot then moved on.

No repeat  business I found for 2.4 years.

Permissions are just the same the more doors you knock the better chance you have to get a permission .....then you are done! I knocked 76 doors without getting a bite but the 77th I did get my first car that day. You can not give up when you have to eat!

If you want to hunt do not give up knock that 77th door!

Have a look under Airgun Hunting Available under Shooting Opportunities Paid. You'll have to travel to Kent though, although we do have some land in East Sussex we could consider opening up for Airgunning. The nearest to you at the moment is a small area near Staplehurst; then its up to the Maidstone area and beyond. We're growing our Airgun hunting availability all the time. Airgun membership includes full insurance, so you won't have to pay anyone else on top of ours.
