samboy
Hi all. I'm thinking of treating myself to a Schoffel ptarmigan extreme shooting jacket at £439 . Is this good quality gear or should i be looking at something else. Mainly for clay shooting and dog walking. Thanks all.
Westley
It is VERY good gear, just VERY overpriced too !
TIGHTCHOKE
It is great stuff, I bought my son one and he loves it. We also wear their shirts and gillets too. Edited February 14, 2018 by TIGHTCHOKE

Whitebridges
Pricey but very good. Light weight and the water doesn't get in. I'd recommend the ptarmigan.
johnnytheboy
I think it’s overpriced, my advice if your spending that money would be just like a gun, go and try loads and pick the one you like best, there is a huge variance in fabrics in these expensive jackets some feel like they’d last a life time, other a fortnight! B391
I managed to buy one 2 years ago at 50% off in a sale. Awesome coat.
Brad93
As said, Musto and Schoffel are some of my favourite shooting/outdoors clothing companies
MELLYBOY
Always buy the best you can afford - yes this is high quality wear indeed !
worrall26
Well made gear for clay and dog walking. But if jumping over barbed wire fences and ditches. Cheap and cheerful is best. Learnt my lesson 25 years ago , Barbour waistcoat cost 65.00 ripped on first fence.
The Heron
Great coat I bought one and the first time on a shoot I tripped over and fell like a star fish into a load of mud and cow **** ( I can still hear the laughter ) anyway I rang the manufactures up and they told me what ever you do not to wash it just let it dry and brush it clean which I did and it was as good as new worth every penny even today there are still times when you get what you pay for. rimfire4969
I do not regret buying any of my Schoffel stuff. My favourite and wear on driven days and cold days out is my Ptarmigan Tweed jacket that I bought for about £250 in a sale a couple of years ago. Scully
I’ve had and have most makes of jacket, but have never tried Schoffel. Nephew has a nice jacket of that make; very smart. He likes it.
Wingman
They are superb I have a shooting coat from them. Makes my Barbour gear feel very cheap. As has been said keep an eye on the sales I bought mine for a very good discount still cost 350 quid though.
triumphant59
I would like to agree with everyone that says how good schoffel jackets are but I can't! I have a Ptarmigan jacket which I bought new about 6 years ago, 1st time I wore it in heavy rain it let water in across my back and upper arms. I contacted Schoffel and they asked me to return it and they replaced it with a new one, my friend had the same problem. On beaters day this season 3 of us where wearing Scoffel jackets, mine was ok but the other 2 had both let water in across their backs! In my opinion they do not come close to the old Musto countryman jacket which were warmer and never leaked. Not sure if the new Musto jackets are as good but if you keep an eye out on eBay you can still find a good Musto Edited February 18, 2018 by triumphant59
strimmer_13
bit unrelated as it's a work jacket but I've been issued a schoffel jacket and I can't say I'm impressed. Over priced is the understatement. Zips fall apart and lets in water like a sieve. Looks smart and is reasonably tough (has not been properly holed yet from thorns ect) but unfortunately I work for a crew where looks are more important than freezing your #*$& off. Maybe other ranges are better I couldn't say
