Cheers Dave , it consumed me for awhile but my boy (jake) was born 5 weeks ago so now there just no time for the shed

o1 when heat treated correctly can get very sharp and be very tough and it's much easyier to heat treat than the other fancy steels that cost a fortune

thats what i thought.............it also takes on a colour of its own after a while.....makes it lot used sort of..

As above. I'm no expert metallurgist, I just do what other people tell me, but O1 has always been kind. Easy to work and what knives I have made have been sharp enough for me.....

True, that knife would be a great carving knife. Bound to become a talking point at any dinner party.  .....errrr well yes,  my greatgreat grandfather relieved it's possesor when raiding a Spanish galleon ...imagine the friends faces at the table.:lol:
