Hi all.

After a few hundred shots my Browning xs 12 gauge stock becomes loose. Would a bit of loctight on the bolt thread cure this or is there another remedy ?.

                                                                                                                                                                                                      Thanks all.

There could be a couple of reasons , 1 the stock bolt is missing a spring washer under the bolt head . 2 if the wood is soft which is not uncommon with "fancier wood" then the bolt will squeeze the wood so it will keep loosening as the wood has little resistance to the pressure . If this is the case then the remedy is to fix a large heavy washer in the stock with an epoxy adhesive so that the bolt pressure is more evenly distributed . Put the washer in and lightly tighten allowing the epoxy to harden [best to grease the bolt so it wont stick ]before you fully tighten it up .

Worth also checking that the stock is bearing on the plate between the top and bottom straps as this can be a result of shooting with a less than tight stock .If it is then it can be bedded in with an epoxy again being careful to grease the straps so they will free off without problem .

I would not advise a thread lock as there is the risk of it getting into the mechanism as well as the  problems you may have in the future if you want to take the stock off .

As with any advice I can only suggest possible cusses and if you are uncertain let a professional do it for you .
