Driven Pheasant

Recommended Posts

We have our little pheasant syndicate down here in Cornwall but we normally buy a day somewhere as well. The last couple of years we have bought a clear up day late January at the same shoot, so no guarantee on bird numbers, we also bring our own lunch and drink. First time we had 120 and last time about 85. Unfortunately this shoot has now changed hands and are not doing clear up days. We don’t mind traveling and we always stay in a pub / hotel for the night after the shoot.

We have found that these days offer the best value for money if anyone is in a shoot or knows of one that could offer us something similar in the southwest please let me know.

Thanks

That’s good value for money for 120/85 birds.

but you have no guarantee what will be put over the guns would you still be willing to pay that if your guns just shot 30 birds.

it must have been a big shoot for you to shoot 120 birds at the end of season.

It is good value which is why we went there.  A keeper / Shoot owner should have a rough idea of what they should be able to put over the guns. We are told that we should get a bag of 70 but no overages. They did not catch up at the end of the season so were not worried about numbers. If we were told roughly 70 but only shot 30 a shot count would be the way to see if the birds were there and bad shooting was to blame.
