I decided to reload some new Cheddite 3” cases and some once fired Eley Lightning cases with 36grains of Alliant Steel some with Sam1 and some with BP s35 35gram of B.B. shot. Have to say I am very impressed with the results as my home loads are better than factory. Some pics of my home loads next to a factory Eley and the press set up. But if one was looking to set ones self up reloading i think they would be a good investment, they do a nice crimp and are well made. Tell me! Are the RTO heads available separate? figgy Posted May 3, 2018 Author Report Share Posted May 3, 2018 (edited) Panoma1 your right it don’t resize or de prime or prime. I use a lee loadall for that. You can buy progressive machines from OMV or just a resizer. As crimper and finisher I’ve not seen any better. Fen tiger Posted May 4, 2018 Report Share Posted May 4, 2018 Many cases these days are produced cheaply few are over engineered if you understand my meaning, some go weak/ thin on the crimp folds from once fired and resizing is in some cases less feasible than it used to be with cases say 20 + years ago with many typical modern hulls. 20 bore chedite and fiochi hulls can be terrible even once fired can show signs of weakness and will sometimes split upon re forming the crimp folds or get a fold out in the final crimp. Buying new hulls is more expensive but in say wildfowling loads where ammo used can be relatively low volume compared to pigeon or clay shooting it is perhaps less of a consideration for some . That OMV produces a nice cartridge on new hulls and for the wildfowling loads i mentioned i would be happy with the lack of resiser personally, but can see where some people would favor having a sizer. .
