I didn't expect much of a response at all but though i might just enlighten the odd one or two,

Really ?

Shouted like Gerard Butler in 300 'THIS   IS  PIGEON   WATCH '

Its not really happening is it?
And certainly not in the way youve done it, your first post was fine , but then you got all confrontational and defensive.
Which hasnt helped yours, or the LGBT case in general.

I thought the rules covered this type of thread?

It is strictly prohibited to post or hyperlink to, any material which is defamatory, threatening, obscene, harmful, pornographic or of a sexual nature, or material which would violate or infringe in any way upon the rights of others (including intellectual property rights, copyrights, rights of confidentiality, or rights of privacy) or cause distress or inconvenience or which do not comply with all relevant laws. You must not post messages that are vulgar, crude, sexist, racist, homophobic, offensive, or otherwise violating any law.

But this thread does none of that? although a few individual posts have sailed a touch close to the wind for homophobic posts now. As long as we're only talking about it in general terms and in more philosophical terms about what it is to be accepted for who you are, I don't think it breaks any of the forum rules. Don't forget we have countless threads on shooting and shooters being discriminated against, or being tarred with the same brush as mass murderers, or air rifles being shot at pets. It's just that this time it's about the gay community and it's not of much relevance  to most people on the forum, as it's not a discrimination we feel on a regular basis. Had Winston put up a thread about shooters being unfairly discriminated against, we'd all be in agreement decrying the unfairness of life, because it's personal. This isn't to most of us, but it clearly is to Winston.

A few posts of late probably run aground of the above laws, but not many, which is a good thing. I wasn't interested in the topic per se. I am interested in the responses, which is why I'm still following and reading.

Off topic! put that in dogs and dog training! :whistling: would it be easier or harder to train a gay or lesbian dog? would they make better or worse gundogs?

Did you read the article? There's nothing of a sexual nature in there either - nor in any of the following posts, which I guess is why the Mods haven't closed it. The phrase 'sexual nature' outlaws stuff about sex, not sexuality; in fact most of the debate and the article aren't even about that. They're about acceptance and what acceptance looks like. Had Winston filled the post with sexual references, innuendo, crude bedroom talk and the like then yes, it'd contravene on the grounds of posts 'of a sexual nature'. But we're talking about what it looks like to accept homosexuality and the attitudes of forum users towards it.

Whats up ? The truth hurt. ?

You cause a problem and then cry about it.

You should define your self by your achievements not your sexual prefrences .

maybe a thread on Lube prices and buying in bulk?

that would be really useful, it just cost me a small fortune to change all the oils on my transit.

I actually spent time clicking on the link you posted, there is some good information on their but i think it is devalued somewhat by comments like this:

"It’s often forgotten and more often ignored that many of the campaigners for votes for women were bisexual or lesbians including two of our faces for LGBT History Month in past years: Ethel Smythe and Emmeline Pankhurst."

Their sexuality neither diminishes or enhances their achievements and legacy so why would you make comment about it. By all means LGBT history month should be discussing the milestones for equal rights and educating people of previous plights of the gay community etc but "outing" famous historical figures just devalues the whole discussion.

Yeah I noticed that too. It's their gender - not their sexuality - that moved them to act. If it was sexuality, why were the VAST majority of suffragettes straight? As far as I'm aware, no legal action was taken against them for it and it didn't hinder or promote the suffragette cause in any way. She probably owned some dark blue socks too. That probably didn't impact the cause too much either.

Im telling every one, not just you mr centre of attention seeker ,

Its our actions that define us. Not what we are born with .

Do you think a young girl with cerebal plausy wants to be defined as such ? No she wants to be thought of as a hair dresser or a cook or what ever. Her achivements .

You want to campaign for gay rights but your going about it the wrong way and as such are part of the problem and not the solution .

Thats the truth that hurts you ..

Im all for equal gay rights and same sex marrige etc .

I have no issue with it. Im not your enemy or against your beliefs.

Your  attempted constant belittleing of me is a sign of you being unable to accept your sexuality and move on .

And this troubles you. When you have reached a happy state you will come into line with what the vast majority of posters on here have already said .

THEY DONT CARE

as it should be .

The way i see this post now as different from the 1st page.

Winston has made it common knowledge that he is gay.

And that sums it all up for me, no real need to get to the 5th page.

Well done Winston i only wish i had your courage :friends:

I see what you are saying, but do these straight people tell anyone who will listen that they are straight? No, so why do the gays feel the need to tell everyone they are gay? What does it actually have to do with anything in day to day life?

For the life of me I can't see why a gay bloke or girl would want to have their own individual march or parade then complain that they feel they are treated differently. Seriously, could I hold a hetero march without being accused of homophobia?

Many years ago I used to drive a taxi and one of my regulars was a doorman (straight, so he said) who worked the door of a gay club. He admitted his job was to keep straight people out as they cause trouble. Can you imagine if a straight club kept out gay people?

Mainly because straights don't get victimised because of there sexuality, it was still classed as a mental illness i the 80's and still frowned upon today
