Making a priest

Recommended Posts

I'm currently making a priest for use on the yak. It's made out of wood (hawthorne, if that helps!), my question is what would be best to coat it in once it's ready for treating: oil? varnish? something else?

Any suggestions would be good. If I can, I'd like to keep the colour and grain of the wood as natural as possible.

I’d go with either a tung oil or boiled linseed oil Chris. But then again I’m a big fan of Osmo Polyx hardwax that dries quicker. You’ve got quite a few to choose from.

Or this which I saw the othe week and fancy giving it a go.
