Ruby tailed wasp?

Go to the front of the class Jim London.   Never seen one before but my Observers Book (Circa 1952) of common British insects lists it.

Ruby Tail is correct  Chrysis Ignita

I'm no good at posting photos on here, (maybe one day) but we had a bright red and black moth at work the other day, very geometric patterns, never seen one before and yesterday I saw a large flying insect that looked like a cross between a dragonfly and a hornet, huge, yellow and black striped, large long wings, fat at head and middle of the body, with a slimming tail. It seemed to be collecting pollen and made very little noise. I remember seeing my first Hummingbird moth, thought sure it was a tiny bird. They visit the same plants at the same time every day. Nature always offers surprises.
