Got a couple of days fishing on the Avon at bathampton middle of june. Staying at bathampton Mill.

Any advice on species / methods, local info please?

Taking gear for deadbaiting pike, would love to have a go at chub/barbel if present tho.

Anyone here fish this piece? All advice welcome, thanks.M.M.

Just looked on Google maps and it looks a real nice place to stay, and fishing on the doorstep, not much about the venue but found a couple of links that maybe of some help.

hello, lovely stretch of the river avon, my favourite would be the weir pool despite the £3 day ticket, only 3 places to fish so early morning ?? the right hand side looks good for pike,   barbel/chub out in the main stream although with this rain if running fast they will hang under bank  lunchen meat/ lob worm/smelly cheese for chub, and feeder of maggots might help, ps i envy you moor man so good luck and a fine stay at mill.cheers

Thanks for links Oldun, will take groundbait, bread, sweetcorn, cheese, luncheonmeat, lobworm, maggots/casters and brandling (any good?......I have a reliable source at the local stables) we are staying on the river so literally up and out first light on the weirpool before the pleasure boats start. Back for breakfast, then explore the rest of the water.

My mate seems fixated on deadbaiting for pike but I really want to catch a chub or even a barbel?

Were going 18/6 for 3 days, any more info gratefully received.....ie 'special' pubs worth a visit??

Thanks again guys...

I wouldn’t dead bait for pike in June anyway ..

waggler shallow with maggots for the chub

This, and last knockings into dark for a barbel. Try halibut pellet and/or a smelly fish/meat boilie for the barbel.
