Installing rubber radiator hose without kinking?

Hi all

As above really. I need to install a fairly short piece of radiator hose in my tractor, and I can't get it on without kinking. It's a 90° bend but over 30cm or so, so not super tight. I don't have any springs. Could I heat it up before installation or something? Wrap tape tightly around the kinking bits? 35mm internal diameter EPDM rubber.

Thanks.

You will have to buy a piece of bent hose to the Diameter you want, if your not willing to just bung the piece you have on with its kinks and hope the pressure is enough to remove the kinks when running. You cant change its properties just because you want to.

Unlikely to work with rubber. AFAIK all the forming has to be done before vulcanisation.

However, if you had a plastic pipe of the right, smaller, diameter and shape, you might be able to introduce it into the rubber pipe to act as a former.

It would have to be a loose fit to get it in, though
