yates
How pathetic some people have become. I have just bought three twelve inch hack saw blades from the local hardware shop. I was offered a brown paper bag to put them in but told the assistant not to bother as it was a waste. I was informed that she could not sell them to lose as it was against health and safety as I may cut myself on the blades. Unbelievable. Imperfection
I've been banned from using my three tread step-ladder when working alone on the street. There has to be a second person with me incase i fall...or get a nose bleed from the altitude.
The Mighty Prawn
To play Devils avocado, I think actually it's quite rare to find a sharp axe for sale as generally they get knocked about and a sharp edge will chip so perhaps the reality is hidden behind misinformation and ignorance, like much health and safety

team tractor
It’s gone crazy but then if you look at our machines the guards haven’t changed in 50 years.
Dougy
Some numpty at our place cut their face with a Stanley knife while braking down cardboard boxes. No more Stanley knives allowed on site, or any open blades. Because some idiot went to pick his nose while holding a knife.
haynes
You can't legislate against idiots. I bet he burnt his face badly when the phone rang while he was ironing.

Said this to my director one day when he came in with a burn mark on his cheek near his ear. Was not amused. Turns out how he did it was just as daft, tested if a soldering iron was hot by holding it very close to his face (too close) and it was. Retreated to his office and stayed in there all day. Dougy
That's not the complete truth, but may have well have been. The chap knew he had a blade in his hand so why on earth did he take it to his face, his stupidity has had an impact on all the staff that actually still use common sense.
