Surely an FAC rated springer would be very inaccurate or break itself apart!

Far from it. Webley patriot and the HW80s both very good FAC Air rifles. But then i bet your too young to know about these or you would not have made such a comment.

I've never seen one but then I'm only 50. The whole concept of an FAC-rated springer makes no sense since the sweet-spot for springers is around 10.5ftlbs.

Not always, I own a .22 HW90 which was utterly unshootable when new doing 20+ ft lbs, it is now absolutely superb once I tapped out enough air to drop it to 15.5 ft lbs, I have seen home tuned HW80 running at 18 which was very accurate and the same gun could be pushed to 22 ft lbs but the trigger jarred badly then and did little for the groups either. I also own an untouched HW80 in .177 which throws pellets out at 1000 fps ?, not particularly nice to shoot admittedly but the accuracy seems acceptable and I have no doubt would run perfectly well once de-tuned to say 15 ft lbs.

As for the original question I bet there are some Theoben Eliminators which were available in .25 and by all accounts perfectly good performers. My own choice if I absolutely had to have a FAC break barrel would be to hunt down a now discontinued Air Arms Pro Elite but finding one in .25 would be very hard I imagine.

Never had much time if any for gas rams but surely they must be useful at fac levels. Personally I'd go eliminator route too.

And to be fair most yanks whoop and shout when they hit a coke can at 30 yards. They just chuck more rounds down stream, the more the better. Not saying they ain't good shots, but when they are using a gamo at 20 odd ftlb it was a **** start to begin with.

Quite the divide on the pcp and springer lot on here. Me included ?

My HW80 was running AT 22 ft lbs  and accurate. Maccari tuning kit.  Experiment over its now back to 11.5 ft lbs.

Have to agree with dekers .a .25 cal fac springer is a very specialist tool and im not sure where  it fits in as " being the best tool for the job" (what ever that job is ? )

Put it like this .

The lightest pellet available is the .25 h+n ftt at 20 grns .. the top realistic power you could get (and its gonna be hard to cock and harder to shoot ) is around 22 fpe . This makes the ftt pellet shoot at 700 fps   .which is very slow for a fac airgun..and slow for a sub 12 .177  ( 800 fps area ) .and only just a bit faster than sub 12 .22 which are around 600 fps.

So in trajectory terms the fac .25 at 22 fpe .is poor. .in energy transfer terms .it would be ok . Penetrating quite well and hitting pretty hard .so if you wanted to say smack ferels hard in a barn this would be pretty good tool .

But it wont do much over what a sub .12  .177 or .22 can

Thanks for the reply’s guys I ended up changing the slot for a 22 instead of a 25.I’ve Also purchased a pcp theoben  rapid fac running at 39ftlbs.I’m very pleased with it so far just needs a service as it hasn’t had one Since new.

I used to have a sub 12 version many years ago and that was a very good airgun that I regretted selling.

Pro Elite was not made in .25 !!!! FAC / Export versions for the States were .22
