For a start he is reported as saying he does not like the way the press take the ...out of him and then comments on the right of the residents of the UK to hold a referendum without the EU setting the rules. ...."At the time, it was already clear to us to what trials and tribulations this PITIFUL vote of the British would lead."   My capitals.    Well Mr Junker you can stick your stingy comments about us, we are leaving.  I suggest that you potter off down to Rome and sort the mess out there that you and the EU have made and then maybe call in on Athens on the way home in your private jet.

OK close to a rant but a make no excuses.

That's not Junker ...Michael Winner ...a great guy. He instigated the erection of signs/tablets at any place a police officer was killed on duty...Yvonne Fletcher was the first one I believe shot outside the Libyan Embassy and our weak pathetic politicians let the murderer walk.

No one with any sense takes even the slightest notice of anything Jean Claude Drunker has to say. It's only ever been about money, more specifically our money and he has it in for Britain because we've made his pathetic little life more complicated.

Junker is an anti-British and power-mad bully. He has shown the Eu's true colours by acting like a spoiled brat when he doesn't get his own way.

His constant attacks and hollow threats on the British people are getting tiresome now and just prove that the sooner we get away from his would-be superstate, the better.

My thoughts exactly. More concessions from Appeaser May no doubt. Meanwhile the clock is ticking down. If we end up with a no deal clean break can we trust our present crop of politicians and civil servants to prepare for WTO rules and make it work?

Amazing that a fortnight ago it was `no way Jose` yet now both sides are very optimistic of a deal in November!!!!!! Yet nothing seems to have changed ! Shows the contempt they have for the electorate imho.

Spot on, make no mistake, this "deal" will have been agreed and gifted to the EU months ago by TM and her remainiac friends.

Agreed ,I`ve been saying this for too long and sadly it seems that I was correct ,what an ignomineous end for our country if it ends this way !

The clawed junkie is intoxicated by its own sense of self-importance.......

.......while Theresa "May-or-May-not" flounders around, with Philip and the Carney-vore confidently predicting doom in a manner reminiscent of HMS Pinafore: "It is one of the happiest characteristics of this glorious country that official utterances are invariably regarded as unanswerable."

One must hope HMG is not taking advice from the sort of financial "experts" who devised Collateralised Debt Obligations that severely damaged the banking system, or the PPI schemes that were apparently intended to defraud the banks' customers.

Agree with all this. Nowt wrong with Aus, US ect. Just thinking about the arrangements for (non skilled key labour ? ) Say Care workers pickers , packers etc where the EU residents have filled lots of jobs. We either have to rethink how these jobs work or add them to the key workers list which will open them up to residents from the third world?

Gordon nothing to add?

Absolute rubbish. We have enough potential workers to fill non-skilled positions. They just need to have their benefits stopped first!

Although I broadly agree with that sentiment, I wonder how many of the population are Tory or UKIP voters, AND are on those benefits that might get stopped ?
Make those people poorer, and the shadow of Corbyn (or someone of his ilk) promising 😉 to put them all back, if they vote in a socialist  labour government is virtually guaranteed.
Be careful what you wish for.

This ^^^^^

Which ever way you want to cut up the problem, we have the shortage of non skilled workers if not people.  We either look to pay more which will mean more tax and higher costs, we manage without or we make exceptions to the immigration rules for key workers. My guess is it will be exceptions that win the day and put us right back where we started. Although under the new fairness policy it will be workers from the sub continent. Result?

It doesnt have to be one or the other, it could be a combination of ways and means to get the migrant labour we WANT, not just have to take in everyone we HAVE to.
We could also make the benefits system less attractive by small increments, stop this barmy mentality of families being better off working 16 hrs a week, and being topped up with benefits.
I know people who would like to work more hours, but would actually be worse off financially if they went from part time to full time, thats just stupid !
Lets have a serious look at how we can train the people who already live in the UK, there are plenty of people out there for it.
Too many kids leaving school with no real prospects of proper employment.
And yes, in the meantime , make exceptions for immigrants who have sort after skills, it works, and has worked well in other developed countries for decades.

Thats not putting us back where we started to my mind, its a fresh start , with new rules, and new opportunities.

I agree with all that you say. Trouble is we have not had the political drive to deliver these changes. The benefits system has just been re visited (I thought IDS was a good choice to do it) so I can't see that happening any time soon. The new start, fresh rule will be that we can choose which workers we want for what areas of work. I can imagine the english test will not be too taxing but I hope that we can have a system of work only visa's, time limited that do not allow residency unless you have children here?

Hearing the stuff on the climate change agenda this morning maybe it's time to look at a new way of working. Let's have a constitution with a bill of rights that sets out a series of operating rules which will set out the operating parameters of state regardless of which party is in power.
