Don’t worry about it Simon .  My social life has to revolve around my hospital and doctors appointments . Still do what ever I want to . My wife is adamant that I will be found dead in some hedgerow with a pile of dead pigeons .  What a way to go .

Just come to an arrangement with God that IF he don't stop with the giving of diseases, you shall "forthwith" withdraw all services for fixing his escalator, and oiling of the hinges on the pearly gates!

If this is the result of pushing on a bit , then I am not looking forward to getting there , having said that , I must be under one of Gods junior doctors who also like a bit of pigeon shooting as he is doing a good job of keeping me going .

I like the way you are facing up to these set backs , if anyone can make light work of what lies ahead then I am sure you will do your best to get it sorted , mind you , if you put on any photos of your ( willy ) then it will have to be after 9 pm , or at least when we have had out tea ?

have a pal with diabetes, gets his viagra on the nhs, should add a qualifier to that as not seen him for a couple of years as don't shoot there anymore, so it might not apply now.

Yes, diabetics do get ED remedies for free, along with all other prescribable medication to fix anything else that is going wrong as well.

However, once neuropathy sets in, due to high blood sugar, the prescription remedies may not necessarily work.

It is a much better option to try to keep your blood sugar levels within the normal range and avoid the neuropathy.

The side effects of diabetes - ED, blindness, liver failure, circulation failure leading to limb amputation and heart failure can all be reduced by controlling your blood sugar and bodyweight

I know that feeling! Just promised to fix a flame failure device in the EX's oven! Post company lost the flaming part "pun intended" so now ordered a thermocouple to overhaul the original instead. I am under threat of being roasted in said oven if I don't get it sorted! But with a faulty FFD I am unsure how she plans to carry out the threat :hmm:

Strewth Ditchman, you need to follow Doctor's orders and get yourself sorted mate. Time to go on a healthy low fat diet, so no full fat milk, cheese, butter or Sarah for a while.

Controlling carbohydrate intake is rather the point, combined with regular exercise.

These should reduce blood sugar levels to a normal range, and thereby reduce weight.

It is important to shift the fat sitting around the liver and pancreas.

Ditchy - sorry to hear your woes, hope you are soon back on song - perhaps some R&R is a blessing in disguise - more time at a desk taking it easy and pushing out interesting posts for us all to read?

Good Luck with it all!

Oops -didn't know that word would be filtered?

Rhymes with Hummer but begins with "BRAVO".

Only just read your sad post.

As I am an atheist I like it here very, very much.  Don't believe there is a life after...

Would live here for ever if I was given the chance.

Do whatever you have to do Ditchy to stay with us for as long as you possibly can.   A few miserable meals is no price to pay for a few years pottering about in your workshop and generally enjoying yourself and upsetting the peasants.

Stick with it fellah.

Watch out for the gluten-free convenience foods.

The gluten-free stuff tastes so foul that the biscuits & cakes are usually stuffed full of sugar to make them taste better - my wife has been gf for more than 10 years and finds it difficult to find palatable convenience foods.

Porridge, made with jumbo oats, for breakfast is a good low glycaemic index food. I find that a bowl of porridge keeps me going all morning with no snacking. The orange juice and bananas that you are having will increase your blood sugar quickly, as will the sugar in your tea.

The name of the game is to eat slow-release gi foods such as baked beans and to up your green vegetable and salad intake and to eat wholemeal gluten-free bread.

I know that I am sounding prescriptive, but this is how I have managed to survive 55 years (so far) as a diabetic with very few side-effects

It's amazing how quick the body adjusts and how it will react and improve with the right diet, sorry to hear about the long list of diagnoses but  at least you know and make adjustments than carry on unaware until it's too late.

I wish you the best with recovery and moving forward!

You look after yourself Ditchie, keep taking the tablets. Get yourself under control.

I had that last year, went to give blood ( 100 plus pints) and told your anemic, never had a problem before. Book a service at the GPs, small busty blonde nurse trying to reach the check my height , blood pressure 200 plus. Comment , I should call for an ambulance. Doctor says " White coat syndrome" books me in for cameras up and down, " spit roast". All OK . Blood pressure tablets issued, you should be slowing down a bit in your lifestyle!!!!! No way.

The irony is that I feel great, out of breath at times but a quick recovery , but I have reached the prescribed " three score years and ten"
