I wasn't making it something its not, this is your quote above. It doesn't say anything about women in beautiful dress twirling around the dance floor catching the eye of admirers. It says all the other men are going to eat copious ammouts of meat and gawp at the bridesmaids cleavage.

If they were not on a public right of way, you do not need to make allowance (apart from H&S considerations) and they have no right to comment, if you were shooting near a right of way you should make allowances and expect some comment!

In an ideal world, any shooter who saw someone walking their dog near where they were shooting, would stop, make the gun obviously safe and either courteously explain, if they were on private land they were trespassing and could potentially be putting themselves in danger if they were to continue on their present path and ignore your presence........or if you were legally shooting close to a public right of way, you would approach them (gun obviously safe) explain what you are doing and inform them that you would stop shooting, until they were past and well out of shot!

The fact that they may be likely to hear loud bangs and see thing falling from the sky, is obvious and would be covered in the above conversations! ...........if they were antis don't expect them to cooperate/comply!.....And I doubt they will treat you with the same courtesy/respect?

I read it as a joke, not saying such things dont happen, but at a wedding with partners and parents ect attending, I see it as unlikely to be just so.

Yeah I get that he meant it as a joke, not the funniest joke in the world but still a joke. What I don't get is the accusation of twisting his words to make it someting it isn't.

Great thread; am enjoying this immensely. 

A sister of my OH did a stint with the VSO in Zambia in the '90's. At the time she was a vegetarian, which at first she didn't deem to be a problem, but as she ate the same food as the villagers it soon came to dawn on her that the minuscule amounts of food available, and of the most basic kind, meant they were surviving on amounts she had no idea people could survive on. One day she heard a bell ringing, and upon investigation she discovered that one of the few skinny cattle owned by the villagers had died. At such times, it transpired, all the villagers would converge on the corpse where it was carved up and all its meat shared out between the villagers. My OH's sister gladly ate the portion given to her. She said she then realised that veganism is an affluent western society fad that most people of the world cannot afford, and felt quite arrogant and spoilt given where she was. 

I agree with her. To make the choice to be vegan is idiotically pretentious in my opinion. I don't mind anyone being vegan, as long as they keep it to themselves instead of wearing it like a badge of honour and exclaiming it like some arrogant empty head. It is nothing to be proud of. 

A gallery local to me advertises itself as a vegetarian restaurant also ( although for some strange reason they serve, and eat fish! ) and the food is excellent. I enjoy eating there. I can understand someone choosing not to eat meat for health reasons, ( my daughters best friend is vegetarian...until she's had a skinful, and can then chuck down the chicken nuggets with the best of them! ) but there are many vegans who visit also, who are downright picky ( the waitresses call them worse than that )  when it comes to asking what is in this or that main course, but whose pickiness ( and veganism ) goes right out the window when it comes to desserts! 

Sorry, but I can't take vegans seriously.

Sums it up more eloquently than I could.
Its a fad/fashion , not a moral choice, most of the time.
Like wearing a pair of 'designer' jeans with more holes than fabric, someone, somewhere is having a right laugh at their expense.
An expense that seems completely unjustified, I though lentils, nuts and squash were cheap staples, yet in restaurants, the vegan/veggie offerings cost as much as a choice cut of meat or fish.

British shooting this has been a very interesting topic and after reading all the posts I must say there are quite a few selfish members on pw with many varied ideas on what to do regardless of what you decide to do with the vegan and your sister   I personally wish you and your Mrs to be all the best for the future I hope you will both be happy and healthy

I just didn't understand their target protest. It targeted a club where provisions where adequately put in place to provide segregation and privacy for women, I assume with zero trans members anyway? Could they not have impeded/bothered the LGBT community in some way. Us normal people already think this gender fluid stuff is a load of tosh.

EDIT: After reading again I see your point I overlooked the Autogynophiles and assumed the whole conflict was between Trans and feminists. Theres too many bloody name for things these days. Again though this isn't typical of your average male in my opinion but it does need to be addressed.

 

Met the lad last night, he is probably the quietest and most reserved lad I've met. Quite a nice chap actually. More than happy to cater for him at our wedding and make him feel comfortable. He seems more into his views for his personal choices and reasons not to try and change the world and impose his views on others, can't knock him for that.

No conflict between old school transsexuals and radical feminists ? The problem is that lots of straight dudes have started declaring themselves lesbians or "transgender" and insisting lesbians learn to like ****.  The whole Pride furore was lesbians protesting that they are only attracted to women, and that everyone else should be okay with that. People don't see how these pornified straight white dudes are taking over and trying to erase women, to say women don't have different needs or have any kind of problem with the world just because they have female biology. Everything women have, even the rape crisis help and the womens shelters, these dudebros want to colonise. It's a huge problem, and the Left are worse than the Right in this. T

Autogynophiles , thats a new one, basically an 'undiagnosed', non card carrying pretend transexual ?
Never heard of it, another label for the masses, or maybe some 'person' who doesnt want to pay the £140 to get his or hers trans certification, I would think most wouldnt pay it on principle.

I note the similarity with fieldsports antis, bullying, intimidation, threats, provocation etc.........because one side thinks it's unacceptable/wrong and can't accept another's choices/predilections/preferences, because it challenges them, their position in life, their beliefs and/or it threatens their 'moral' crusade.

Vegans, antis, transexuals, homosexuals, lesbians in fact anything abnormal or extremist is, assuming its lawful? The business of the individual consenting adult alone.........as long as they don't rub everyone's face in it and try to force it down everyone's throat.......if they do they invite comment.....much of it they will not like!

In a world of many people, people with time on their hands, and no fear of starvation, lack of shelter or foreign invasion, the devil will find work for idle hands.
Our 'developed' western societies are a fertile ground for the 'Look at ME , Im different ' culture.
Its just a reaction to being a tiny little cog in a vast machine, a machine that isnt interested in your name or dreams.
A machine that will grind you up and spit you out without a murmur.

You could easily enjoy your views and choices on vegan/vegetarianism or your sexual and gender ideals.
But many do seem to want the world to know about it, it gives them 'identity'
You still hear of people protesting for LGBT(Q)(P) rights, but they already have all the rights they need to practice whatever they want to do.
Yet still they march and demonstrate, I cant say it bothers me particularly, but Ive said before, it doesnt work both ways.
Can you go into a Vegan restaurant and ask for a steak ?
Why not ? Why shouldnt they accommodate YOU ?
You can go into any steak house and get a vegan meal .

My stepsons first girlfriend was a vegan but they kept hens and she would eat their eggs.

With her it was more knowing where the food had come from ( and the life it had) She even said she would eat the hens when they stopped laying.

I asked her if she would eat a Pidgeon I had shot and she said she would....
