Distillery Tour

Hi Guys,

I've been living up in Scotland for a couple of years and still haven't done a distillery tour.

My Dad's up for a few days this weekend so thought it about time I book one.

I'm blessed that I can choose from quite a few. I'm on the north east so within striking distance of many well known distilleries.

Aberlour is the one I'm leaning to at the moment but I'm open to any recommendations.

Thanks.

Its probably not near enough to you but Edradour near Pitlochry is regarded as the best, (ie most entertaining), tour. No doubt there are many who will disagree, there are many contenders. Some are industrial factories, my advice is research the small quirky ones

Glenfiddich is good, last time got to try some that I had not seen for sale in the shops, (we asked) Swedish fishing pal I took was well impressed, was like a kid in a sweet shop in the shop

recommend you do the cooperage tour behind, cannot believe how they throw those barrels around, do those guys earn their money, you can tell they are on piecework

I went round a few a while ago took advantage of not driving, started with one in keith.

I just turned up and didn't book, one I went to we were on a main road and the traffic ground to a halt managed to get down the slip road on a turn off with a sign to another distillery

Done Aberlour one drunken afternoon a few years ago!! Two options from memory and I chose the option with the most drams at the end, as did the wife! From memory it was 7 drams, Wife sipped each one then passed onto me! After 14 drams I staggered incoherent back to our digs at Craigalleghie in some nick I must say!! You will enjoy it :-) Great wee distillery!

Haha thanks again, I'll look forward to this one.

I'll have to try that one next time Sako, driven past it quite a few times. I'm outskirts of New Deer now ?

Only 20 mins away and have plenty ground round Cuminestown if you ever fancy a morning or evening out.
