Help, What Glue!

I stuck a mirror onto a tiled bathroom wall using ordinary silicone mastic, and at first it seemed to have worked brilliantly -- but after a few years the mastic destroyed the silvering (or whatever they use on the backs of mirrors nowadays).

For the replacement mirror I have used "Evo-Stik Mirror Adhesive", which is claimed not to damage the backing.   Time will tell.

This is the key issue; glueing it up - many products will be fine, not damaging the backing is more critical.  Use something specified for mirrors.  Many silicone products use acetic acid (smells vinegary) - and I doubt this will have a good long term effect on the mirror backing.  I have fitted mirrors with corner pieces that take screws.

Best to use a proper mirror adhesive as John advised, there are loads out there, and if possible take the door off and lay flat until fully cured.
