Walker570
Is it possible to take the chip from one mobile and put it in another newer model and have it work ok?
walshie
If you mean the SIM card, then yes. The only thing you have to look out for is different phones use different size SIM cards. I think they are called mini, micro and nano. Something like that anyway.

Walker570
Thanks, yes walshie I meant sim card. I'll check the cards and see if they are compatible.
Lord Geordie
I believe there is a voltage variation on 3 network sims? So 3 sims don't work in non 3 phones. And likewise a phone on 3 will be wrong voltage for non 3 sims. But all the others work.
Newbie to this
I had a 3 sim in an old EE phone that I had unlocked and it worked fine. The only things you would need to worry about are like already mentioned the sim size fits the phone and that the phone is unlocked to the network of the sim
Hector Vector
I've never had a problem with "3" SIM cards in "non-3" 'phones either...
Wb123
Never had any issues around three sims, but have had to cut and sand down sims to smaller sizes.
Paul1440
If you need the smaller size sim Just go to the high street shop of who ever the service provider of the sim is and ask for a new one. They will give you a more modern one. This is the best thing to do if going from a 3G to a 4G capable device. Ring customer services. They will ask yiu for the sim Imsi number printed on it ( or on the packaging) and swap your number to it. If the phone takes the larger size than what you have there's adapters available to make it fit.

Lord Geordie
That's odd learned folk I had a three phone, and the sim was a lower voltage sim than the others. I couldn't use any other sim in it? Oh well.
Lord Geordie
Just worked it out. Three started with the 3v sim voltage but prior phones were 5v so the sim wouldn't work in an older phone! Now modern phones can use all 3 voltages being 5v, 3v, and 1.5v apparently.
