Cartridge disposal.

Recommended Posts

Just seen that someone had disposed of used and unused cartridges at their local tip on the lsle of Wight, and that the local council have stated that both used and unused should be returned to the original supplier or a specialist disposal contractor and not in any circumstance placed into the weekly refuse .

Oh dear, can understand the live ones, but who's not guilty of the used ones.

And are we now going to have our bins inspected because we're SGC holders, as l bet somebody at county hall can press a button linked into the police  system and id who is. ?

Well I have been putting doubled fired shotgun cartridges in our recycling bin since they introduced them, I shall keep doing so.

Same here , after a days shoot my cartridge bag is emptied of the used shells into the general rubbish bin and any cartridge cardboard boxes goes in the recycling bin , never had any problems.

I wonder if the Council Operative called the Bomb Squad?

One of my friends worked in a local tip, several years ago he opened up a box and found a military rocket launcher. Him being the gaffer he rang the local constabulary and was given MOD in Lancashire to contact, anyroad they turned up the next day and did not appear that particularly concerned. Words were that stuff did turn up every now and then.

It must be a good 15 years ago as I recall

Just nipping out love, got too run the tip to get rid of the old pram, a burst football and that rocket launcher, wont be long! ?

Irrespective of the disposal issue the police could not make your personal details available to the a Local Authority without breaching GDPR I believe,

That didn’t stop them giving everyone’s names and address to a company pitching some sort of firearms product the other year.

Our clay shoot has always had a problem getting rid of the used shells, so we now use "Agri-Cycle" to recycle them. Have a look at their video of how they recycle both empty and live shells. We have a company called RCBaker about 30 miles away so can take them there when we have plenty. They charge £12 for a bag of 4000, or £30 for a large builder bag of 20000,

There may be an agent for Agri- cycle near you so give them a call
