Lay the boards flat and soak them in the sun with used engine oil, evrytime it soaks in wet it again until it wont take anymore. Soak the end grain more as it will suck it up.  Line the inside with Plastic like visqueen if your bothered about it possibly contaminating your soil, should stop it rotting for decades.

make raised planters and put legs on or some sturdy posts.. for the strawberries...line it out with DPM plant it up........you wont loose so much fruit to rot or mildew they will ripen quicker ...........and you wont have to bend down to pick the damn things...
