It's nick named death valley by the ambulance drivers due to the demographic of the population (me excluded :-)) and as its so far from the station that when they get here you are most likely dead. I note that Boots (I have no connection with Boots) are now taking appointments for this years flu jab with a 10% discount for early booking. I have my flu jab done in Boots every year - and as I'm under 65 and though eligible for free prescriptions, apparently not for flu jab - so I pay for it (I think it is £13) and have it done privately (in my case in Boots). If you are over 65, or have certain medical conditions (diabetes, asthma, and others) you can get it free on the NHS. mel b3 Posted August 19, 2019 Report Share Posted August 19, 2019 I had the flu jab for the first time last year , I had it done at work and it was free , I felt as rough as hell for a week or so afterwards ,but it was better than getting flu. I haven't had proper flu for about twenty years , the last time that I had it ,i honestly thought that I was going to die , I was still feeling rough for about a year afterwards. Yep, it's a pretty miserable experience that I really wouldn't want to repeat (I'm a lot older and less fit these days), I had the full monty , coughing up blood etc , it was good for the diet though , I lost three stones in two weeks 😅. My mantra for the winter months is half a 1000 mg tablet of effervescent vitamin C (redoxin tablets) every single day and not to pick your nose; it's taken me a while, but I've worked out that every time I have a good dig around I can set my watch to getting a cold / chest infection.... brutal I know, but a top tip for Winter nonetheless Quote Link to comment Share on other sites More sharing options...
