Advice on rifle accuracy.

First off good rod and brush required, be very careful of that tiny 17bore. Many will suggest a bore guide, up to you. Don't forget crown and throat and chamber, particularly where bolt extractor claws sit!, if you feel inclined clean the bolt, and why not the moderator as well.

I use Hoppe's Bench Rest 9, when its gone I will look for other cleaners, formulation has without doubt changed over the years and doesn't seem as good now. After that Express Gun Oil and patch dry.  Commonly Legia over most of externals as well.

Jobs done, one or 2 shots max after this and the gun in spot on.

As an aside, I do hear many people don't clean their rimfires and they work, the issue seems to come when they clean, so it is VERY important that if you clean, keep going until it is clean, don't give up after rodding it a couple of times, odds are you will make things worse if you do that.  So, if it needs a clean be prepared to spend some time on it!

This will only be the case where the barrel/crown/etc is fundamentally in good order, it may well be the case if the barrel/crown is damaged/pitted that cleaning brass/lead/powder/whatever from the damage does actually make the gun perform worse until you have filled the damage again with some shots!

Jules have a look in Fenland Rural Sports for a MTC Scope you won't be disappointed also a tip I'd advice fold a coat up or put a cushion under the bipod rather than straight onto the hard surface of your truck tailgate 😉
