What a good idea! Never thought of that one, and I've have brass pommels come off stage weaponry before (they lead a very hard life...)

I'll have to give that a try - thanks, Ditchman 👍

Joking apart…I think you are doing a cracking job and seeing some of the things you have done in the past I’m sure it will look the dogs do-dos, looking forward to seeing one of your knifes made from scratch.:good:

no im fine with this one ...sort of attatched to it......it gets banged about a fair bit and used to prop things up ...so it would be sacrelidge to use a hinged one....many thanks for the offer......fat chap would give it a good home....not many of them around now..........

Looking good :good:....did you use your belt sander or file it by hand or a bit of both?

bit of both..........because of the natural shape of it.....it is impossible to do it all on a machine.....proberly a good definition of "hand made" as opposed to "machine made"

well here it is finished............good practice.....i will proberly make some more if i can find suitable bits of antler....might even keep an eye out for a old piece of oak branch   you see them laying on the ground sometimes ...all rotten and fluffy on the outside....but when you scrape all that off the centre is all gnarled and twisted and hard as iron.....so if i find one i will brush it off and dry it by the fire for a month or so...and see what i can do ............

be an excuse for another thread....
