redial
Chief Executive of the Premier League standing down. He was only thought to be on 2.5 million a year. Premier clubs asked to contribute £250.000 each as a thank you. Edited November 13, 2018 by redial

The Heron
You pay your money and take your choice personally I would not waste one pound on football.

I had two old uncles, between the wars one was a mine under manager (pit deputy) the other a pro footballer, he thought it great he was on the same money for playing football. Vince Green
At the time of the 1966 World Cup football players earned roughly double the national average wage but had to make their own pension arrangements which many didn't. In his autobiography Jimmy Greaves said that taking all things into consideration, including the pension, he probably would have been better off joining the police than becoming a footballer. When you consider what the Met Police were like in those days he was indoubtedly right !!! Edited November 14, 2018 by Vince Green
JohnfromUK
Money flows freely and easily in footballing circles. Partly fans who are easily persuaded to part with their cash, and partly TV rights which are hotly fought over by the broadcasters, and (probably smaller contributor) advertisers/sponsors. If the money is easy to come by, it will be easy to spend freely.
