Evening all,

Thought I would just put up a quick update on the shoot. We have secured all the land again for the coming season as well as a new wood block and the go ahead to put a lot more cover crops in to get the best out of the landscape. We have two new pens being built in the next month or so as well as updating the water system so we can put drinkers into the cover crops. We are going to do the same as last year and sell pegs on the majority of the shoot days which are all going to be on Saturdays. These will be 100 bird days and will be sold for £350 per gun including all hospitality. If anyone is interested in taking a peg please PM either myself or Steve (The Gouse). We will hopefully see some old and new faces this coming season and more importantly have some good days in the field.

Regards

Al

Well mate we are about there??

The two new pens are up, the cover crops are all in, just the water now to install.

The birds arrive 23rd and 24th to there 5* pens?

We had an unbelievable season last season and it’s going to be better this season👍

Shoot up date,

We took delivery of the first 1800 birds on Sunday not as well-grown as last years poults look a week to ten days younger to me but good poults and doing good,

they have come a week earlier than we booked them but we were ready for there arrival. We have 1700 birds next Sunday coming and 1500 more the week after. It’s working well with myself and reg doing morning feed and checks with Al doing the nights.

The cover crops have now sprung in to life and you can see them growing with the sunflowers and maize a good 2 to 3ft The kale is getting battered by cabbage white butterfly’s so we might need to get some spray as it’s getting hammered. The millet took an age to germinate but now doing well it just didn’t like the wet weather we had in May and June ( should have sowed it last year in the drought????)

We have all the IBC tanks dotted about round the shoot so we have water in all the cover crops and feed rides in the woods.

We are also introducing grit trays for them this year as we didn’t do this last year and they  liked to visit the road so we are trying to give them 5* board this year.

Just 13 weeks 3 days and the season starts for are shoot again.

kind regards,

steve,

Looking forward to the start of the season. Last year was great for getting out and making new friends and having some first class banter and getting a new puppy was a bonus .

Anyone interested in beating on this shoot you won’t be disappointed as the hospitality is second to none .

See you all soon Kev
