Chilly but chuffed

Arrived at a permission early with the thermometer showing -4.

Wrapped up well and waited in the old wood shed by the pond next 2 old oak trees.

Now I had heard the jays before but seldom seen them, certainly never within airgun range.

So I was chuffed when over a few hours I bagged 3 and a squirrel looking for acorns.

All shot with an Air Arms S410 .177  fitted with a Twink silencer and Hawke scope.

Ranges from 25 to 34 yards.

Put me right. Do we get the continental jays over here in the winter or summer?  I've noticed a few more about as well.  I have a magpie and jay set up in a case which I shot right and left many moons ago and David Kenningale who did the work said the jay was an incomer from the continent. Slightly different colouring if I remember.  Have a plan similar for day break tomorrow after this heavy 48hrs of rain and had a jay on the trail cam along with maggies and tree rats during the previous week.  Great ..very succesful.
