Dry dog food, fox bait station

I am thinking of setting up a bait station for fox's to use dry dog food in. Reason for this is to keep the place neat and tidy. I was thinking of using 110mm soil pipe with stop ends in both ends. And drill holes a bit bigger than the dog food. Fix this to a fence post. So that a fox could get the food out, but it would have to stay there for a bit and work for it. And set a trail cam up.

Has anyone else done similar?

Thanks

If its for shooting I would just put bait under a staked sheet of galvanised mesh they will spend hours getting it out. If I have bird carcasses they go on a string loop around the bait post behind the house. Its 145m away from kitchen window. Perfect. Not so sure about dry dog food. I am sure it will work but if there is one in range but not visiting a tin of pilchards will probably work better 🙂

You should see my bait area now. I put all my chickens there on string and a load of pheasants (de breasted) and everything is feeding there including a group of Buzzards and I have bits of leg, wing spread all over the place. Badgers and foxes pull bit of deer out of the no mans land ditch so I have pieces of jaw and spine all over the place.
