Rrs and co ltd sxs hammer 12 bore

I know it was made in Birmingham there are no serial numbers on it any where any one shine a light on it it has Birmingham proof mark crown and bp under it can't find any more info on it so would like any info would be much appreciated

On its own it's black powder proof only and that mark was introduced in 1904. No mention in Boothroyd.

Really need more detailed description and photo's if possible . More than likely it was a Birmingham made gun retailed by a now unknown shop / chandler / outfitter / ironmonger .

Robert Roper Son & co, 13 Broad St, Park, Sheffield. c.1878-c.94, also at Haymarket c.1897, Haymarket only c.1901.

Robert Roper Son & Co Ltd, 29 Sheaf St, c.1905, 8 South St, Park c.1909-c.40* (also Pmkrs c.1878-c.94).

Yep, discounted this in Boothroyd as there's no mention there of "son" and the only year given is 1900, but the Sheaf and South Streets tally.

Thanks that's great news it's from Sheffield not travelled far it's still in Sheffield it is engraved rrs company ltd but rfd  had it as roper in their book
