Yeah, likewise - all the real tearaway kids at school had them once they hit 16.

There was a rival to the fizzer but i cannot remember what it was. You either had a fizzer or a ????

There was the Suzuki ap50 and the Fantic caballero...... both Fizzer rivals. It might be a Xs650 engine but looks like a single to me so more likely an XT500 or 550?

Hmmmm it was OK but it never got anywhere near the FS1E speed or handling wise. It was a bit of a wheezy asthmatic compared to the Fiz. There always used to be several kids that reckoned they could easily get 70 out of a fiz but for what I saw, tuning them just made the. Louder not faster! 🤣

I never had a fast 50, I used to borrow dads moped, can't remember what make but it was green, had an exposed spinning flywheel and odd belts and chains. It would do 45mph if I sat on the rack and got my head down. That was in 1973/4. And guess what? It's still running!

Better Exhaust like a micron power pipe add a good high flow air filter and Porting and honing used to get a bit more out of them. If you  saw 70 mph it was going downhill.

I moved to a 250 super dream It was the do da's 🙂 Later my brother got the older 250 dream which I think was a better looking bike.

There was I think a 250lc (suzuki?) that was the fastest thing on the road. Times change 😞

250 LC was a Yamaha, the Suzuki was a T20 Super Six, now l had one of those with all the Padgett racing bits added, liked a piston or two did that if you got it too hot.

And then there was....................... to many to mention.

The quick Suzuki was the X7 250, which was, allegedly, the fastest 250 on the road at the time.

And it was until the advent of the 250LC together with the Aprillia 250 and the KR1S were pretty much responsible for changes in legislation in  The UK......😏

100mph 250s in the hands of learner riders was a recipe for disaster.

    Wowser, even rarer......🤩

Certainly don't see many around. It was new in 1972. Still original and running but no longer on the road. It's a bit slower now but that's not surprising, we've never even had the head off or cleaned out the exhaust.
