Perhaps it just applies to council house tenants, but like I said, I have no idea of its truth. That depends if the council own any houses any more. Very few left in Nottingham, it's all associations, private companies with council contracts. Having said that, there does appear to be plenty of allotments here, but many of them are owned by people with large landscape gardens who don't want veggies making them look rough. Retsdon
I wasn't much of a gardener. Mine would grow up until it got unmanageable, and then I'd scythe it back. Then every other winter or so I'd get the old grey Fergie and a single furrow plough in about and start the whole cycle again!
Rst1990
my Garden is nothing but a pain in the backside to me, I’m always having to cut the grass pull the weeds etc in the summer I’m cutting it at least twice a week. When I first had a garden it was all exciting and new but a good few years on it’s a pain, I’ve not got no plants to maintain no veg patch and I still moan when pushing the mower lol, I’d much rather be out shooting than playing with gardens. Scully
I must admit, life is too short to cut grass ( unless it’s your livelihood ) but I do like a garden.

No cutting the grass on a summers evening, putting on nice stripes, the lovely smell, love it.
