johnnytheboy
Just looking for recommendations for game cartridges for the impending purchase of a 28g shotgun! Its likely I’ll pop a mountain of them over the chrono to add to the chrono test but when I’m buying these cartridges it would be good to know which ones it doesn’t matter to much if I get stitched up with 250 rather than a box! Any help appreciated
figgy
Bornaghi Gamebore and Hull are all good game carts. Stick to around the 21 to 24 grams as I found them to give best results when I had mine.
Dave at kelton
Agreed stick to 21-24gm loads. I like the eley vip 24 gm fibre wad 6. Never chrono’d them but they pattern well in my fixed choke 1/4 &1/
Whitebridges
I like the Bornaghi 24g No 7. I picked a slab of these up from Just Cartridges. I don't think they sell them anymore.

figgy
The Gamebore 25g fiber and the Hull 23g fiber loads are good and usually easy to get hold of. I once used a slab of Eley in 7.5 for clays that were good enough for pigeons and partridge.

neutron619
Shot a couple of decent pigeons over the weekend with the Eley VIP 21g/#7. I've used that cartridge in a #6 as well and found them both good to about 35 yards - pattern gets a bit sparse with the #6 beyond that. I've also liked the Hull High Pheasant 23g cartridge though I can't remember whether that was a #6 or #7. Both nice to shoot though.
