Muzzle Loader with no license

I have no idea nowadays to be honest. Some are deemed antique by virtue of obsolete calibre, but it’s years since I owned handguns so am not up to speed on legislation.

You would need an explosives license / black powder permit ( or whatever ) anyhow, even for any of the mechanisms you’ve mentioned if you intended to fire them.

Gotcoalman is a black powder enthusiast, he would know. Drop him a pm.

Which muzzle loading pistols (flint lock, match lock, percussion cap etc) can be owned without a license?

Pistol etc which are original muzzle loaders and have a age of approximately  100 years can be  acquired with out a licence  the same is for muzzle loading shotguns and rifles and obsolete calibres   ,If you wish to use any of these then they must be entered on a  shotgun or firearms certificate with the same condition has  modern firearms. It is best to enter them has a antique which if later required can be returned back to antique status. All modern repro muzzle loading pistols, shotguns, rifles must be entered on the firearms  or shotgun certificate
