Quit smoking about 15 years ago (30-40/day) and used to smoke a pipe when out with my Black Powder Guns (always felt.....just right somehow) - I don't miss ciggies at all but I miss the smell of Balkan Sobranie terribly sometimes when out roost shooting with the smoke pole.

I used to smoke Balkan Sobranie in a pipe ------- but you can't buy it any more.  Still have the pipes, though not smoked for maybe 10 or 15 years.

You can still get the main ingredient of Sobranie,,,Latikia,,at several places. I had it as the main flavour of the mix I smoked.

Thanks for the link! When I packed up smoking I had 14 out of a box of 25 Cohiba Esplendido Cuban cigars left in the humidor.....according to the source in your link, they are now £41.99 each or £992.99 per box of 25!.........might try smoking one on my 70th? Lol!

Apparantly they were made exclusively for Fidel Castro at one time, and are reputed to improve with age?

I tried a number of others after Balkan Sobranie became unavailable.  the nicest was 'Artisan mixture'.  I haven't smoked in 10 years or more now, so won't be re-starting thanks.

As long as they have been stored correctly they will be fantastic.

I used to smoke a pipe regularly. My every day tobacco was Gawith Hoggarths pensioners mixture which was a blend of all sorts. I did like to try a lot of others as well, with Peterson’s connoisseurs choice being a regular. I packed it in as I was smoking too much. Just a cigar smoker now with a couple of Cuban’s every weekend. Every now and then I do clip a bit of cigar off, slice it up finely, moisten it slightly with some whisky and the stick it in my pipe and smoke it, normally during late night conference calls for work.

Figgy is right though, you really don’t want any of that liquid that builds up, so cleanliness is a must!

Noooooòoo , don't start smoking !!!!!!.

I'm a none smoking nicotine addict , starting smoking( when I was young and stupid)was the worst and most stupid mistake I ever made . Just be content to get the odd whiff of pipe or cigar smoke.

hello, i use to get my pipe baccy from an American in the USA Air Force that lived next door while he was stationed in Welford,  many of the old fashioned tobacco shops have closed but there is one on Oxfords high street if anyone interested to visit, you walk in to a wiff of many brands and different mixtures and pipes galore

There's an old fashioned tobacconist in Bristol that I like to go into, it smells so nice and is full of old, dark wood. I smoke the very occasional cigar, might try a pipe at some point.

Would be nice to find a tobacco that smells nice and doesn't taste grim. Or hire someone else to smoke them for me, while I stand down wind!

hello, i think a lot of grim taste is down to keeping a pipe clean, a decent filter in the pipe bowel helps like the Falcon range
