There are umpteen different knurled heads on these ceramic inserts making it almost essential to take the tap handle or lever to the merchants to get a proper match.  It may mean a visit to more than one merchant before you get a match.  Take the photograph also, it is atotal pain and expense that  those heads were never standardised for the convenience of all customer and tradesman.

Easy option is a new tap.

By the time you factor in time spent looking online, fuel and time going around the various outlets buying what you think is the right part but its not when you put everything back together. A new tap looks ever more the right way to go. If you keep the paperwork you should be able to order replacement parts direct.

I do a lot of the general maintainance around the farms where we live, of the 3 I've changed all the taps to new ones whenever the 1/4 turn taps start to drip.

Built in obsolescence I believe is the phrese.
