ph5172
We have clay soil that gets waterlogged in the winter then bone dry to a depth of about 6inches in the summer. Most grass just dies off in winter but it semi recovers in the summer. I’m looking at overseeding it this year to tidy it up a bit, it’s a front garden so not subject to heavy footfall but can sit in shade a part of the day. Any ideas? ditchman
hire a rotovator and rotovate a shed load of grit and wood chip into it.....then seed...
rovercoupe
Tons of planer shavings works a treat and as much leaf matter as possible worked in too then re seed or turf. Did ours the other year and had to use a ripper on the mini tractor to break up the soil it was that solid before rotovating in stacks of shavings and manure and is not waterlogged even in a storm. ph5172
I will look into that thanks for the ideas. I did rotovate a small corner outside the main patch this summer to see if that would assist. Aside from rubble and general builders gubbins pulled up the grass took and looked brill until it was cut and then it looked patchy. Its never going to be a bowling green but still. A local farmer suggested overseeding with paddock grass?
