Shot a few pigeons late afternoon yesterday whilst roost shooting , on breasting them I checked their crops and all were empty bar from one who had a tiny amount of rape in

Is that usual this time of year for pigeons to struggle to find food or were these just unlucky in not finding any

mine had clover in

Went for a walk today around a local farm I shoot on, did not take the gun just my walking stick and binoculars, the farm is mainly beef and sheep with a couple of fields of barley, one field has a lot of clover and it must have had 300/400 pigeons on it, with birds coming and going.

When I left the farm I went 5 minutes up the road to another farm I shoot and there are 3  rape fields that have produced some good bags this winter, usually the trees around the fields are full of pigeons…..not a one. :unhappy:
