whats the best stuff for cleaning silencers

i took my hushpower apart today and wow was it gunky. It was so gunky i almost coudnt get the outer tube off. Can anyone suggest something that can cut through the gunk ? Napier spray on gun cleaner isnt up to it, at points my finger nail was struggling to get through it 

 

any suggestions ?

its a bit big its on a Beretta silver pigeon so must be 35 inches long

I used carburettor cleaner on the inside.after soaking it in gunk for a day to break up the lead that’s inside.

Its along shot but depending upon your line of work you may be able to find someone that has an industrial sonic cleaner. The insdustry I work in uses them for cleaning machine parts. 

The one we use is big anough to sit in, I work with a few rifle shooters and we pop all the mods in there at once, they come out like new.

Way i see it is, if it gets carbon built up off wheels it should do the job on a gun. Beware in case youve never used it before, it will wreck paint work after a while. Dunno about blueing as ive never tried it. Water it down loads. 

And sorry if im teaching you how to suck eggs 😂👍

its seems to be a black tarry like substance that laughs at napier gun cleaner 

i may try this as well - though if its tar like perhaps something like ethyl acetate will get through it

what i need to clean is the outer part of one of these

the inside of the outer black tube is gunked up completely

I have just remembered when I got tube of I made a wire brush to fit on a Long piece of wood and put it in drill with loads of gunk down it it’s a messe job but I got it clean after about two hours of solid scrubbing

I would say automotive  brake / carb cleaner should do the job shifts most gunkand grease and will evaporate
