Anyone got any Cheltenham tips?

On the first day of Cheltenham the Daily Telegraph had a racing supplement in which 4 well known tipsters gave their tips over 7  races i.e. 28 tips. There were few duplicate tips except where the favourite was a racing certainty (Ha Ha). I have no interest in horse racing but in an anorak moment that evening I checked the results against the tips. There were only 4 horses framed!!!

Based on the performance of these so called experts my tip for you is to get your favourite winkle pin, close your eyes, and stab it into the race card. Alternatively, go out into the street and throw your stake down the road. The outcomes will probably be the same but the latter action maybe more satisfying!!

The races are so open, it's amost impossible to give you a dead cert.

Sir Erec should be nailed on for the 1.30 but he's 4/5 right now.

I've not gone for winners this year and have made more money going E/W. A lot of the races are paying up to 4th or 5th place, so I've done some multiple E/W bets and done better that way (1/5th of 12-1 is still over 2-1 for an E/W). I've done some patents etc and got better payouts. Nothing too big but I've at least made some money.

The other trick, taught to me by someone in the know, is place an accumular/trixie/patent for 2 or 3 horses that should place and have odds of 5-1 or better. Assuming the first horse does the deed (wininng is ideal) you then get decent `cash out` prices that are more than your initial bet.

I did this yesterday - the first 2 races went to form (fortunately), so I had 2 winners and my cash out value was say £10 on a £2 bet. Effectively odds of 5-1 and I'd only had 2 results from 4 or 5 races. Take the money and run (bet more horses). I'm still currently in credit for once.

It may not appear to be as much fun as backing a direct winner with a single bet but I know someone who makes a lot of money this way (you still have to bet big to get the bigger returns obviously).

Picking winners in these sorts of races is almost impossible.

Having said that.

Friday 15th March

Race
1 Sir Erec
2 Whiskey Sour
3 Allaho
4 Presenting Percy
5 Hazel Hill
6 Not Another Muddle
7 Early Doors

Sir Erec is win only but the rest would be good E/W and/or multiple bets.

*I take no responsibility for how much money you lose following my bad advice!
