You can use 1/2" or  3/4" back plate elbows and brass nipples. Depending on the size of your bar mixer connections. This what I did but used the chrome 3/4x1/2" reducers that came with the kit as a couple of threads show between the wall rosette and mixer connections.

I want to make the backplate because it just makes it easier!

That's the bits I was after! (which I think I have sourced now)
