Homing Bird

Recommended Posts

To start my Larsen trapping campaign this year I had borrowed a magpie from a friend who had kept his birds on the go all winter. After 2 days trapping I had  obtained enough to get my traps up and running so I caught my friends bird with the aim of taking it back. This is where I made the school boy error of loosening my grip and letting the bird go. Now I have had birds let go before and have caught them again within a few days but what made this different was that the bird flew into a nearby blackthorn thicket and having been left half an hour was back in the trap. It obviously had become used to it’s easy living.

Anyway the bird is now back with my mate and my 2019 campaign is well and truly under way.
