That  looks like a Goose egg.

Starlings often lay a single egg on the ground when they can't make it back to thier nests in time! Maybe this is the case with your egg?

You could use the latin name Phalacrocorax aristotelis. :)

I'd also go with goose egg. Which reminds me of a favourite breakfast.

Goose egg boiled for 7 1/2 to 8 minutes with black pepper and lightly steamed asparagus, just coming into season (or sparrow grass to you Norfolkians) dipped in the runny yolk. Yum yum :good:
