Mr Bell has explained that BASC is continuing to lobby MPs to press Environment Secretary Michael Gove MP to step in to resolve the chaos of an online system that is failing to deal with the volume of applications. He said: "We continue to lobby MPs and those MPs continue to press Michael Gove. "I am in daily communication with the chief executive of Natural England in order to find some route through this chaos. Mr Bell added: “On Tuesday I highlighted the concern of BASC and other shooting organisations at the chaos caused by the withdrawal of the 2019 general licences. “General licences that are absolutely essential for the protection of crops, newborn lambs and the breeding of red-listed species. "We have pressed Natural England to ensure that we are consulted for the new general licences that are due out in the coming week. Mr Bell said that the focus now was trying to “make it work” with other shooting organisations and Natural England. The latest information is available on a dedicated page on BASC’s webpage: https://basc.org.uk/ne/ The video can be seen here: https://youtu.be/IdcF6UAfFZI ENDS Edited April 26, 2019 by Debbie BASC
