Went down to the butchers in acle this morning to get supplies and have a mardle with my mate who does the leatherwork.........and he asked me to take a look at an old knife he got at a car boot sale a few years ago.................couple of the spring are broken.................but oh boy what a little beaut'....this little knife is enough to give Tightchoke a stiffy........

it is well made ...handmade...i think surgical steel ...the blades are still wicked sharp..............aaaannnnddddd............its made in Norwich...how about that then.............(proberly assembled in Norwich and hand finished more like)........

when i have got time i shall take it apart for all to see and make a couple of new springs for it....................what a little treasure it is..........i would guess anywhere between the 1920's to the 1950's...dont really know ...just a guess............any way i shall leave this post open and come back to it when the time comes.........

What a lovely knife and locally made too. Doesn't get much better.

Looking forward to future posts on its refurbishment.

What a gent TC is, coming to the rescue with some spring steel. Good on you.

just having a mess about on this thread...wondering how to get the riverts cut  off.

so i re-functioned an old wood chisel ,...cut the hanle off and re-profiled the cuttingfb edge...and sliced the riverts off....without using a griner or file ...also had a quick go at getting some of the scratch marks out of the blade................anyway ive had a thought about it now ...and i will progree once i have finished "old farriers" knife...and im off the sauce...

yes "Whitebridges" has been arounsd again:lol:

thought i would give old farriers knife a bit of a rest before i harden it....need to do some reading up as the temps are not all the same.......

so we took the horse knife (boer war) apart...bit pic heavy ...but i need them for re-assembling..............you can see the poor design of the springs where the riverts go thro there aint enuff meat ...so i will improve on that....i will use  O1 tool steel and anneal it to just past blue and as there is only a small ammount of flex that will be fine........

so its all soaking in petrol now before i take the scratch marks out and polish everything...then i will order up the steel plate.......
