The Heron
The clays are breaking when they are dropping down from the loading stack onto the firing tray. Ps the trap is a promatic Hobbit.

Gordon R
I presume the trap has been cleared on any debris where the clays drop.
VicW
There maybe a thin strip of spring metal that lessens the impact of the clay dropping onto the plate. Check that this there and in place. It is usually held in place by a single screw which can loosen and allow the strip to move. Make sure that the trap is disarmed and the launching spring relaxed before working on the trap. Vic. Westley
I do not think that the 'Hobby' model has the spring plate that softens the clay drop. Check that the rubber tipped clay stop at the base of the magazine is clear of any gunge or debris. I have known that to crunch the clay, as it stops the next clay from falling. I would contact Promatic if the problem is not sorted, they are an excellent Company to deal with.

This would be what I look at first. Then if the arm is set correctly. Test it initial with the spring removed to see slow time where things are breaking. Assuming all debris has been removed
Westley
A problem with the small single stack traps, especially Promatic, is when the trap is uncocked the arm is straight out at the front and it is a great temptation to grip the arm to move the trap. The problem then is, the arm is alloy and as such will bend easily. This causes the fired clay to break, but can also shave the bottom of the next clay in the stack magazine, this can then break as it drops. Check that the arm has NOT been bent. (usually upwards). The Heron
Thank you every one I will start with some brand new clays and check the trap to make sure it is clean and set right.
