oowee
Just back from South Africa. Protester's dug up the motorway with a jcb in protest at the ANC not delivering on promises, after years or so in power. Who will they vote for now? ANC of course as they promise more of what they want.

norfolk dumpling
I see this am, in the debate around the rich list, some of the very, very wealthy are already leaving the UK fully expecting the mess PM(TM) and her sidekicks have made of Brexit will let Beardy Bloke and his Far Left lot in. Many of you of a similar age to me will recall when old Labour were in and tax rates at the top hit 90% overall receipts dropped dramatically. They don't care of course as this is the politics of greed and envy. Get ready to sell your guns boys as Corbyn will take them off you. We won't get support from the others as Greens and Liberals all want shooting outlawed.
Tollerman
According to today's Sunday People labour will give everyone not working a £100 a week wage in addition to their benifits with extra cash for each child.Apparently they tried it in Finland .Great insentive to go out to work.I wonder who's going to pay for it all.Have they found the 'money tree'? A number of places have tried it on a small scale (Google Universal Basic Income), none with much success it would seem. What is the point in taking £XXX from someone monthly in tax and paying it straight back again, having 'processed and administered it' by a large civil service department (who don't work for nothing)? It is a typical socialist "we know how to use your money better than you do" approach. Everybody should be able to retain as much of their (earned and held) money as possible after the bare minimum necessary to pay for essentials like Health Service, Defence, Roads, and supporting the sick, elderly, veterans and disabled. Free handouts to the lazy and feckless should be discontinued with 'basic' foods and accommodation provided by vouchers That cannot be exchanged for alcohol, drugs, Sky subscriptions, cigarettes, hoidays for those who will not comply. Lets really concentrate on helping the genuine cases and leave the bone idle to learn that 'there is no such thing as a free lunch'!

Totally devalues the point of working hard to up your career, if some jackass is going to earn similar money for microwaving a burger. I doubt any skilled profession is going to go up proportionally. Maybe hijacking this thread, but my thoughts when the national minimum wage went up again recently, but my salary didn't, as my employer pays me above minimum wage it means he thinks my skills are worth that much more, but I did not receive a salary increase equal to the increase in the minimum wage. This feels like a kind of pay cut, what do people think? I'm not going to complain and ask for more money, just looking at it from another angle. *maybe should have made this it's own topic? Same thing with the Tories’ over here, spent the last nine years screwing this country over and promising" a society that works for everyone" but there's still a load of old Muppets that will still vote for them when there's another general election, Nigel will have his 2nd day in the sun on the 23rd May at the European Parliament elections. When the proper election comes doubt he'll get more than a couple seats.
K85
Every time min wage rises more people get dragged in to it. Cus wages dont rise for everyone then prices rise because costs hav gone up so they have to topup your wage with benifits. Then lest for other gov spending. Since then, no mainstream party has really supported that result. Much to the anger and disgust of those 17.4 m. But you still only think they would win a 'few' seats? That's naivety on an epic scale, much like the idea that only 'old muppets' still support the tories.

Nigel's track record on Parliamentary Elections isn't that great, even in the swamps of Essex and Sussex he's not managed to get a seat in Parliament. GingerCat
I've said it before - if red jez gets in it won't be long before we are like the socialist utopia of Venezuela that he often harped on about. I notice he's gone a bit quiet about it recently. There are hundreds of millions dead under the type of government he wants to create. When the money has been spent and no one works any more as there is no need (the state will provide and all that carp) they have to enforce their will. This usually takes the form of violence and imprisonment. A short trip to stalin era russia, north korea, pol pot etc etc etc will show you what occurs. We won't be any different. Anyone who thinks any of his policies are anything but pure fantasy are deluded.

The Brexit Party will not participate in a GE, it is purely a tool to annoy the EU by cluttering up their nice cosy EU Parliament with people who oppose the EU.
