Still looking for a hobby

Since the lads packed in motocross, I have been looking for something to occupy my time. Junior has decided to go back to Trials. I bought a Gas Gas 280 and have refurbished it - more suspension bearings than you can point a stick at, forks overhauled and more. I should have taken photos before and after, but can't turn back the clock. I also got lumbered with a small box trailer to cart the bike round in. Chassis cleaned, painted, wheel bearings, mudguards, stabilisers, paint, sealing and more.

The sad part is that I have rushed all these and the best part of four weeks later - nothing to do - apart from a new trailer floor and mounting points. Junior and senior are pictured in deep discussion as to whether I should get another trials bike and perhaps a larger trailer. I fancy making a box trailer from scratch.

The excess paint has gone from the handles and the rivet removed from the mudguard on the trailer.

The Greeves was a very good bike in the 1960s.

Burpster - been looking at a Beta for eldest, who might have a dabble. Also looked at Scorpas. My knowledge of trials bikes is limited. Bought a TY175 Yamaha and Montesa 348 in 1990, plus  a Gas Gas 250 about 5 years old. Prior to that I had a BSA 175 Bantam trials in the 1960s - reg JCB 42 - reg would be worth a bit now. I have far more experience of motocrossers - 19 in total. Any recommendations on trials bikes - make, model would be helpful

Classic car, loads of fun and always something to do.

I have had this Sunbeam about 25 years, latest edition is an 1980 E30 BMW 3 series with full history and 64000 miles on it.

That is a beaut. My brother has an MG midget and my dad has a rather nice MGB GT (1.8) and TF. As you can tell they are MG fans lol. Lets hope we get a nice summer to get them out of the garage.

I have a Sunbeam Alpine series II, sadly in a stalled restoration due to a charlatan so called specialist royally screwing up.  I have owned the car over 30 years and it hope to finish the work by myself but time is hard to come by.

Took the plunge and bought another trials bike - Beta Rev 3 250cc. Clutch stuck, no front brake, no back brake, non-runner for the last three years. Checked compression and spark before buying.

Got in home and got it running, then started dismantling to check all bearings, seals etc. This time, I took a photo before starting. Exhaust looked rough when I got it - looks a lot better now. New graphics, bar pad, grips, front mudguard in the post - as it is having a new red / black colour scheme..

Got a lot to check - wheel bearings, arm bearings, free up clutch, sprockets, new parts and check every single nut and bolt. Some aluminium welding or air box brackets required. One of shooting mates will do the ally welding - I can't. No fluid in brakes or clutch. I am trying to stretch it out. :whistling:

My youngest has just been on the phone - "Do I fancy buying a Sherco tonight?"
