hi guys

just after advise, does anyone know roughly how long after signing house contracts it takes to get a moving date, having a few issues i cant get a moving in date but they want me to sign contracts on monday

cheers

Signing contracts with your legal advisor is just part of the process and any completion date will be agreed between seller and buyer (through the legals) only at exchange of contracts?

Just to add to Eyefor’s correct explanation. You are signing the documents in advance, so that your solicitor has all the documentation ready for when the other sides solicitor is ready to exchange and agree a date to complete (& move). This is often time consuming if there are several other buyers and sellers in the chain.

However at a rough guess, it might take 2 weeks to arrange exchange of contracts (when you are committed to buying or selling) with final completion 4 weeks later. This is a general rule of thumb and depending on the complexity and awkwardness of the other solicitors/buyers/sellers.

Just keep in touch with your solicitor and Don’t stress about this, your solicitor is just getting everything ready and sorting out the fine details - suddenly you will find things are all agreed and happening!

Good luck

Agreed assuming English law. Scotland is another matter and a lot less mucking about
