It's for cycling but not moving!

You can run on it too but cycling is certainly more popular.

I usually sign up for short periods prior to sportives. Makes the turbo much much more interesting. Don’t believe the power outputs and times of lots of people on there though...

I would imagine most people are using power meters or a smart trainer which measures the power, so not sure how the power can be misrepresented? That said I'm sure weight doping is common which would skew w/kg figures and of course times too.

That’s very true.

No 2 stepson is up for RAAM - team effort - I'm told they're sponsored for the kit and bikes but don't get to keep the latter which at £10k a throw isn't surprising. Starts in a few days. More fun than in the gym I suppose.

That's pretty cool, are they doing it for charity or the craic?

I've found the spin classes at the gym to be very variable in quality, we used to have a tri-athlete run one session on a Monday and that was proper structured training but some of the other classes are unstructured and seem to all be about how long you can hold 140rpm and / or the person running the class making it all about them. I don't like the Les Mills virtual group classes very much either.

What I like about Zwift is the fact that it's all weather and you can have virtual rides with pals from all other the world. They also have a plethora of well structured training plans too.

I was using it there for a bit during the winter but have stopped my subscription for the summer.

Trying to get out 3 times a week 2 short runs on the weeknights and a long soon Sunday to average > 200km per week.

However I have a 4 day trip to the Pyrenees in September and am thinking of subscribing to sufferfest for a week, to see how that is. Hard to cycle indoors during the summer, but if the whether foesn’t Pick up I may have no other option.

Good question! The answer is both, but the underlying objective for this lot to go anywhere or do anything is to win. Trying to find out if there's any betting on this.

If there is something or someone to follow on Strava or Zwift around this then a PM would be appreciated 👍

Only done sufferfest in the spin studio at gym. 200km per week was my average throughout 2015 but gradually regressed since and that’s not much less than my total YTD.

I’m a “Knight of the night” for the London night rider event on Saturday with a sole personal objective of not needing rescuing myself 😂

All the best with your gig in September!

I Flippin' knew it! Asked the lad to stick £100 on the team if they found any betting on the race. At the moment they're way out in front and I don't know if there is any betting. Team is Backstedt Racing and their 8 man team number is T 800

Anyone else on it?

I use trainer road over the winter on a Tacx Flux S direct drive smart trainer. Direct drive measures the power directly off the flywheel so other than weight cheating is difficult to get it to under or over read the output.

I believe the wheel in trainers have to be calibrated more often and can be cheated to over read more easily, I dont see the point really, your only cheating yourself.

I'm managing about 100miles a week at the moment in between work kids and building work.

Don't think that they can do it now. Apart from the fact that T411 is very good, the last part of the race is escorted and once in that section overtaking is not permitted.

Still a monumental achievement - chapeau to them all!

I have a Wahoo Kickr and the power readings correlate well to the Stages crank arm I use on the road so I think you are right and agree about the cheating side of things.

100miles per week is very respectable, only one year did I average that throughout the course of the year - 2015 I think.

There is a solstice ride from London to Hastings today which I would have liked to partake in but I can't afford losing tomorrow to recover from an over-nighter.

Many thanks, I'll pass that on.

Without the support of the back-up team they probably wouldn't have got too far but between all of them they did superbly well and have just finished a few seconds behind T411.  The solo riders started some 4 days earlier than the teams. The first man home from the solo racers finished abour 32 hours ago, T411 and T800 (the lad's mob) overtook them all bar this one chap and the second placed T8 series team is some 300 miles back and for the T4 series, it's some 200 miles. Not bad at all from a team which consists of a 44 year old retired road racer (Backstedt) and 7 guys (Project 14) with an average age of 45 years who like to ride a bike a bit.

Thanks, I'm 100 miles P/W in the summer, half that in the winter when I'm out beating or shooting instead 🙂 its the dunwich dynamo tomorrow night as well. It's goes right through where I do most of my riding.
