Mine was blood in the Pee and knowing something not right in water works dept ( under a lot of pressure while father fought the brain cancer )  150 mile trip to hospital

anyway camera up the japs eye not the most pleasant

Then a cat scan while holding 2 pints of fluid in bladder remember an injection as well.

Most importantly they SHOULD send you for a blood test for marker for prostate cancer this should be ASAP.

My prostate cancer marker very low but still have a enlarged prostate tried pills ( didn’t get any benefit)

blood in wee stopped or they were going to corterise a weak blood vessel on bladder muscle.

Regards

Get a PSA blood test done at the doctors before the hospital appointment, the consultant will do another DRE then depending on the PSA results and how the prostate feels might send you for a MRI scan, then depending on that result maybe a biopsy - but could just be BPH (benign enlarged prostate) which is just a normal part of aging and can be fixed with green laser treatment (or other procedures that you don't want to Google 😀)

For what it's worth, my consultant told me, most men over 60 have an enlarged prostrate, and PSA tests are not very reliable.

Ask for an MRI scan, you may need a biopsy, if that shows something suspect up?.... the consultant also told me "more men who have it die with prostrate cancer than from it"

This is were it is so wrong for them to say that , to say you may die of something else . 6 years ago i was treated  for Prostrate cancer , all is well now , fingers crossed  .one of the most important  checks they do is check it has not spread anywere else. This can happen , a cell can breakaway and travel through your bones to somewere else and cause a cancer somewere else . Ie lungs etc . So its wrong for them to say its a slow growing cancer . How many men have died because of this .

None of us over 60 odd really wants to know where the blow that finally fells us is going to come from.  That said,  if you 're forewarned about some level or other a lot of the time you have the option to change your lifestyle a bit to kick it into line. Will it help you live longer? God knows. Probably not. But at least you're relieved of the anxiety that you should be doing this or that or not doing the other. Given the information that you have, you're doing the best to keep the bus on the road. And after that...

Now a few months ago I saw an article on this problem and it was sorted with taking certain tablets readily available from Holland & Barrett.  Very often the enlargement is not cancerous and this stuff sorts it out.  Darn it I can't recall the name but will make enquiries and ome back. However all the advice above is relevant.

hello,  a PSA blood test followed by a scan will then show if a biopsy is required, you are not likely to have a scan or biopsy until you have a blood test, this is from the Churchill own recommendation, but it always pays to be on the safe side and get checked out,

Yes OldyPP,  a PSA (blood) test followed by a DRE, followed by a MRI scan, then a Biopsy if necessary, is the process I believe!

Have whatever tests are deemed necessary ! If its anything remotely sinister, it needs treating pronto !

However, to keep things in perspective, I used to work in a mortuary, and I remember the pathologist telling me that almost every man over 50 that came through his doors had some degree of benign prostate enlargement.

Yeah, there was a documentary on the beeb a few months back that said the same - basically over 60 then it's very likely that you will have cancerous cells in the prostate - the question is will they develop to the point where it becomes an issue or remain benign. There are all sorts of new techniques for addressing such things - get referred to hospital and into specialist hands.

Hi gunny..had mine done four years ago...I had problems with a weak stream and stop start  peeing for about twenty years...Took pills of the herbal variety..Saw Palmetto I think they were called, I slept better than I ever have in my life with those, but unfortunately they did nothing for my enlarged prostrate.

Doctor put me on Tamsulosin after a finger up nether regions investigation, enlarged prostrate diagnosis but otherwise ok...I took these for years until a bladder infection one day, and suddenly busting for a pee, and nothing coming out, the more you forced it the less came out...literally one or two cartoon droplets...

The long and short of it was I ended up in A&E and a catheter fitted, not nice, but the relief was instant ( I had the catheter for three months)...I was given the choice of more pills or a TURPS procedure, I opted for the TURPS..this involved a hot wire loop paring away the inside of the prostrate...I think....It all sounds horrendous, but in reality was a complete NONE event...This was  done with an epidural ( spinal injection)This was also a NONE event, despite what it sounds like...Awake through out and chatting to the theatre staff, and within an hour, recovering with a cheese sandwich and a cup of tea.....I didn't even need a paracetamol, NO pain NO discomfort whatsoever ....The bits from the procedure were biopsied and came back clear by the way....I was In hospital for two nights by the way and the staff were marvellous....

This from a guy with an absolute terror of all things medical.and I mean terror, verging on phobia... Especially hospitals..At 69 years old at the time and never been to hospital............Now three years down the line and waterworks are like pouring water from a watering can, Never had such a flow, ever.

Get it sorted kid...the biggest terror is the unknown.

I’m going for blood tests Friday, blocked ear tubes, severe head aches and on and off stomach pains.

Possible celiac, who knows.

If someone tries to slip a finger up my bum how much should I tip?

😂😂😂😂

My wife is gf and experimented with every gf bread available until she settled on Shar white as the tastiest for her.

Watch out for the sugar and salt content of many of the foods. The manufacturers pack them with both to make the gf more palatable.

She eats more polenta (maize), rice and potatoes than she did.

It's all a bit experimental really, but I make her a wicked chocolate cake.
